My wife's friend decided that she wanted to go somewhere in Little Italy last night and so, we came up with The Glass Door. I've been wanting to check it out for a while as I heard some great things about it. It's on the 4th floor of the Porto Vista hotel and has a great view of the airport, bay and skyline.

We made reservations for 7pm with a request to sit on the patio. We got there right on the dot and sure enough there wasn't any open tables. What's the point of a reservation right? Finally, after a cocktail at the bar, our table was ready. The hostess set the table for only two, though we had four in the reservation. She said, no problem we'll get some extra chairs. She brings back a couple bar stools with no backing and super uncomfortable. The patio is pretty clastrphobic and narrow; it's normal to get bumped into more than twice while you're there.

We finally got situated and opened the menu. Wow, now I know why their menu isn't on their website. There's about eight dinner items to choose from and items range from $22 for chicken to $33 for a steak. Everything is a la carte too. I wasn't about to spend $22 on a chicken dish so we went with a $12 burger, but then you have to add $1 items to your burger (only comes with lettuce and tomato). Now, we're at $16 for this burger. Also, went with a wedge salad (small amount of dressing and the smallest wedge I have ever seen).

Burger came out overcooked and with barely any blue cheese. I asked if we can get more bleu cheese and the server came back with, "sorry, we're out of bleu cheese." Well, no wonder there was 5 crumbles on the burger.

The bill I figure was $100 more than what it was worth. Oh yea, add $20 more for the two drinks we had at the bar while we waited for our table.

All in all, go here for the wine and the view. The food was horrible, overpriced and service was the slowest I have witnessed in a while. I heard they have a great happy hour though.
